BONES AND ALL

Directed by Luca Guadagnino. Released in 2022.

A haunting, romantic coming-of-age horror film. It follows Maren Yearly, a young woman living on the margins of society because of an uncontrollable urge to consume human flesh. After being abandoned by her father, she sets out on a road journey across 1980s America in search of her mother. Along the way she meets Lee, a charming young man who shares her same dark compulsion.
As Maren and Lee travel together, their intense bond grows, blurring the line between tenderness and violence. With its blend of lyrical romance, visceral body horror, and Americana road-movie melancholy, Bones and All is a story about outsiders fighting for love in a world that fears them.

My rating: 9.5/10

SCREAM

A film directed by Wes Craven. Released in 2014.

A genre-redefining slasher that blends genuine horror with razor-sharp self-awareness. Set in the quiet town of Woodsboro, the story follows Sidney Prescott, a teenager grappling with the anniversary of her mother’s murder when a new masked killer, Ghostface, begins targeting her and her friends.
As the body count rises, the film cleverly deconstructs slasher movie clichés, with characters who know the rules of horror even as they’re trapped inside one.
